School Year:

Visit to Farm Park 2011

By Mrs Taylor on 26th May 2011

On Friday, 20th May, two very excited classes of Reception children and their helpers had a fantastic day out at The Cotswold Farm Park.

We started the day with milk and a fruit snack, so we had plenty of energy to enjoy our day out!

All the children enjoyed sitting on the straw bales to find out how cows are milked using a milking machine.  Next we split into smaller groups so we could handle the rabbits and guinea pigs in the touch barn.  Some of them were very wriggly!

We found out how eggs are hatched using an incubator and we even held some baby chicks and goslings.  They were tiny and we had to be very careful not to drop them!

We all loved going on the tractor ride!  It was very bumpy and we had to hold on tight!  We had a good view of all the different animals who live at the Farm Park.  Some even stayed asleep as our noisy tractor went by!

By then, we were all ready to enjoy our tasty packed lunches.  For some of us, it was the first time we had enjoyed a packed lunch.  We had lots of tasty treats to eat!

After lunch, there was just enough time to enjoy a closer look at all the different animals.  We enjoyed making tally marks in our groups, to find out how many of each different type of animal lived on the farm.  What a lot of animals there are!

The coach ride home was much quieter than on the way…!  We all had a fabulous day first school trip and we`re looking forward to enjoying another one when we go to Year 1!
