Year 1 Reading Partners

Year 5 have been paired up with Year 1’s this year to develop their reading skills and pronunciation.

Every other week a class from Year 5 go to a class in Year 1; eg: class 11 and class 3. They read books to each other to help them explore the wonderful world of reading.

Mrs Harris says ‘I think reading partners is a wonderful thing because the younger children enjoy having stories read to them and like the company of older children’

Reading partners is a brilliant opportunity for the year 1’s to improve pronunciation, word understanding and reading skills in general.
