School Year:

Recent Visitors to Year 2

By Miss Campbell on 31st January 2012

Staff and pupils in Year 2 have enjoyed recent visits from parents who have kindly shared their knowledge and expertise with us.

Mr Cronk visited us in November 2011 on the eve of Remembrance Day.  He brought with him some World War artefacts including a gas mask, a policeman’s helmet and the twisted casing from an exploded bomb!  He recounted stories told to him by his family and the children were enraptured.

Mr Agombar visited us last week to celebrate Chinese New Year and the arrival of the ‘Year of the Dragon’.  He informed the children of the customs and traditions honoured in China at this time of year.  We all enjoyed learning to count to 10 in Mandarin and Miss Campbell and Miss Buckland used their ‘Flipcams’ to record this impromptu lesson.  We then watched it back time and time again to master our pronunciation together with the appropriate actions!

A huge thank you to both visitors from Year 2.
