Over the last seven weeks, Year 5 has been exploring the topic ‘Wet and Wild’ which was kicked off with a trip to the Blue Reef Aquarium. Since then, children have investigated rivers on their journey from source to sea; they have created marine-themed animations and they have read Michael Morpurgo’s ‘The Wreck of the Zanzibar’.

During October, Year 5 was lucky enough to be invited to Leckhampton Church for an afternoon of Harvest-related activities. We thought about ‘harvest’ in the broadest sense of the word including harvests of the sea, of the land and nature and of the earth but also harvest of the soul too. We would like to thank everyone involved in setting up the activities and for making it such an engaging session; the children (and adult helpers!) loved it.

We were also lucky enough to visit the Cheltenham Literature Festival where Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell , known for their work on ‘The Edge Chronicles’, engaged us with funny anecdotes and accompanying illustrations relating to their work process.

Finally, in art this term, Class 12 have been investigating a unit of work called ‘Viewpoints’ in which surreal, distorted and dream-like work has been created. This work leads up to a two-day print-making activity in November.
