The Great Year 5 Bake Off!
16th December 2013During December, thanks to our wonderfully helpful parent volunteers, children in Year 5 had the opportunity to complete some Christmas cooking which involved creating their own cookie designs.
Having considered a number of ideas and the pros and cons of different biscuit shapes, the children created their cookie dough and got busy making the ultimate cookie. Some children even experimented with a stained glass effect which was created using crushed boiled sweets- thank you Mrs Blake for lending a set of pliers and a hammer for this! Naturally, some biscuits were more successful than others and despite some over-heating issues with the temperamental oven, the children were able to create a fantastic range of shapes. And finally, they’ll get to eat their biscuits, following a quick evaluation!
Thank you again to our parent helpers. Mary Berry will no doubt be putting in a call to you all soon for help…
