Unearthing the Anglo-Saxons!

From Alfred’s Jewel to gold hoards to the bones of the Anglo-Saxon dead, Year 4 learned all about Anglo-Saxon life on their visit to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. As well as a tour of the museum and all of the amazing artefacts, the children worked together as detectives to unearth evidence from the past and learn all about life in Anglo-Saxon Britain. Here’s what the children thought:

“I really liked all the different displays around the museum and the way it was organised into countries and periods of time.” Benjamin (Class 9)

“I loved looking at the huge statues!” Frankie (Class 10)

“We looked at Anglo-Saxon bones and swords and placed them on a grave map! It was really interesting!” Betsy (Class 10)
