History of Leckhampton

On Tuesday, children and parents from Year 3 had a really great walk around the local area to find out about aspects of local history. We learnt a lot about how the allotments had changed, Mrs Evans shared the history of her cottage with us and Mrs Wilkinson told us about important graves in the graveyard and some of the history of Leckhampton Court among many other interesting facts. We walked in our wellies and enjoyed the fresh air as well as learning lots of great facts. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way with this event as we had a great time and learnt a lot too.

The children said: “I learnt that the vicar sold bread to people who were poor and needed it….. I liked when we walked past the moat because you could imagine it had water in it…… I liked that we could see all the different things that happened in history and what changed over time….. We had a lot of time thinking about history…..Some houses are really old, older than you’d think….. I really liked that we were all together.”
