Reception and Year 4 Reading Partners

Our Reception children first met their Year 4 reading partners in December 2015. Since then the children have come together every other Friday afternoon for half an hour to share their love of books and reading. Initially the Year 4 children read to their reading partners but in recent weeks the Reception children have been playing a more active role – identifying sounds and words themselves. This is testament to how hard they have been working in their phonic and reading sessions. Aside from fostering a mutual love of reading the children have all gained a new friend within the school and we know that ‘Reading Partners’ is a highlight for many of our children.
