Settling in to life in Reception
21st September 2016We are delighted at how well our new classes have been settling in to life here at Leckhampton Primary School.
The children have been busy getting to know their new teachers; finding out and remembering where their pegs and drawers are; playing with new found friends and discovering all the wonderful spaces within their school.
They have enjoyed sharing and enacting some stories together including ‘The Three Little Pigs’ as well as some some Oxford Reading Tree texts through which they have met lots of new characters including Kipper, Biff and Chip and not forgetting Floppy!
The children have loved painting self-portraits and creating versions of their homes using cereal boxes. If you were to walk past Oak or Elm class you would hear songs and rhymes that the children are starting to learn and see them exploring all the exciting areas of their classrooms.
Other highlights so far have been using the ‘Big Toys’ on the KS1 playground and changing for the very first time in readiness for P.E in the hall. The children all did brilliantly.
We look forward to helping the children enjoy their first school lunches this week and will share some photographs of this soon!
