Year 4 Visit to the Hindu Temple

Year 4 were privileged to be welcomed into the Hindu Temple in Cheltenham. We were allowed to witness their shortened morning prayers which included songs, bells, candles, sharing of food and giving of blessings. We were amazed to hear that they would normal spend an hour and a half praying in the morning and an hour at night every day. After prayers the children were invited to look more closely at the shrines, pictures and decorations that were displayed throughout the temple. Finally, there was an opportunity to ask questions to the some of the members of the Hindu Community. The children really enjoyed being able to bring together their learning from both the Autumn term and our current topic.
