2015 Speaker’s School Council Awards by Miss Gray
6th February 2015Last term we entered a competition run by the Speaker of the House of Commons. We had to tell them about a project run by our School Council. We decided to let them know how proud we are of ‘News and Views’ and I am delighted to announce that we were selected as this year’s runners-up!
As editor of News and Views I would like to say a huge well done to School Council for all their hard work and a big thank you to all of you who have contributed your articles over the past two years.
I have attached the email we received from the Speaker’s School Council Awards team below:
We are delighted to inform you that Leckhampton C of E Primary School Council has been selected as a runner-up in the 8-11 years category for the 2015 Speaker’s School Council Awards– from hundreds of applications! The judges were really impressed by your project, News and Views Newspaper and would like to congratulate all your students who were involved with the delivery of this amazing project. The judges deliberated your project for quite some time and it was my personal favourite- I particularly liked your jokes and animations!
To celebrate your council’s achievement your school will receive a special engraved plaque, certificate and digital badge (to put on your school website). We will endeavour to arrange for your Member of Parliament to visit your school in order present these prizes directly to your school council.
On behalf of the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt. Hon John Bercow and the Speaker’s School Council Awards team we would really like to thank you and your school council for taking part in the competition and taking the time to tell us about all the hard work that has gone into making your project great. We wish you every success with your future projects and we look forward to hearing about them for next year’s competition!
Best wishes and congratulations!
