Cheltenham Schools Gymnastics Competiton

Over recent weeks, children from Leckhampton have competed in two gymnastics competitions and have done so with skill, drive and ultimately success in the form of multiple shimmering medals!

Firstly, Evie Priddle, Trudy Shirlaw, Renee Peyman, Lucia Santalaeulalia, Grace O’Donnell and Lauren Barrass represented our school in the Level 2 Cheltenham Schools competition following trials taken place at school, against 8 other schools. They each performed one floor and one vault routine and were judged for their efforts. All six of our children did themselves and our school proud and after the scores were counted, Leckhampton finished in an incredible second place, just 0.2 of a mark behind the eventual winners. Also, a massive well done to Trudy Shirlaw for placing 3rd on the vault, competing against over 50 children on the day. Well done, girls!

Following this, Kitty Ellis and Tom Honeyford competed in the Cheltenham Schools Individual gymnastics competition, against many children from various schools around Cheltenham with extraordinary results. After various floor and vault routines, Tom came 3rd on vault in spite of never even competing on this apparatus before, 2nd on floor and 2nd overall – congratulations, Tom! Incredible, Kitty went even further, placing in 1st places in floor, vault and, predictably, came 1st overall. Both children donned their 6 sparkling medals with immense pride on the podium!

Congratulation to you all, you have done Leckhampton proud!
