Cheltenham Schools Swimming Gala

Twelve of Leckhampton’s very best swimmers congregated at Cheltenham Leisure Centre to compete in the 2018 Cheltenham Schools Swimming Gala, and compete is the perfect word for how they performed that evening. Against 17 other schools, both the year 5 and year 6 teams were aiming for a place in the final, where only the 6 quickest teams would be able to qualify.  When the finals were announced, celebrations ensued as amazingly, both of our brilliant teams made it through to their respective finals! Nerves were high but excitement was the main emotion, and all 12 swimmers did us proud.  Our year 6 team came an amazing 4th place, and our year 5 team swam expertly to place 5th.  In the individual races, Libby Lavender qualified for the girls sprint final as one of the 6 fastest – a phenomenal achievement. Libby came 6th and was delighted with her performance! Well done to all 12 swimmers, you were a credit to us all and we are all so proud of you!
