Cheltenham Schools’ Swimming Gala

Twelve children from Leckhampton travelled to Cheltenham Leisure Centre to represent our school at the Cheltenham Schools Swimming Gala. In front of a packed audience of hundreds of excited parents and school staff, who were shouting words of encouragement throughout, our boys and girls did us proud. Out of the 16 teams that took part, both our year five and year six relay teams made it through the heats and into the grand final, where only six teams would fight it out for glory. Leckhampton gave it their all, and a special mention must go to Lily Townsend for fighting illness on the night to compete for her team and school so bravely. Our year five team finished the Gala in an impressive 4th place, and our year sixes also performed admirably, finishing 5th. In the individual sprint races, we were very proud to see James Estelrich battle through for 3rd place, an incredible performance and achievement.

Well done James, and well done to everyone who competed for our school at the Gala! Everyone at Leckhampton is so proud of you!
