Christmas Music At Leckhampton
16th December 2016All over the world, people are getting ready for Christmas. At Leckhampton one of our favourite ways is to prepare through Music, and the Arts. Our pupils have been so busy. Here is what we have been up to;
Christmas Fair, Friday 2nd December
Our Infant choir sang to the shoppers and traders. With their Santa hats and lanterns they really helped us all get into the mood. “Come and Join The Celebration” and “The Rocking Carol” brought many a smile and the children’s voices and actions were just perfect.
Year 1 Nativity, Wednesday 7th December
Through the play, “A Little Bird Told Me” Year One re-enacted the story of Jesus’ birth and the visitors he received. Our seventy-six strong cast, sparkled as they sang and acted. What a marvellous job – well done Year 1.
Junior Choir and Year 6 Choir, Tuesday 13th December, Cheltenham Ladies College,
We love to sing at the Rotary’s annual Christmas Concert and this year we took 103 young singers. The children were praised for their behaviour, tuning, diction and appearance; we even got a mention on BBC Gloucestershire! Again, well done children, you make us so proud. See photos in the Gallery
Reception Share and Sing, Thursday 15th December
Even our youngest children are getting involved and are finding their singing voices; Little Donkey and Jingle Bells (amongst other tunes) were sensitively sung and there were more smiles from the parents and teachers. Fabulous singing Oak and Elm.
Christmas Service, Friday 16th December
Our end of term service focused on the meaning of Christmas through imagery, readings, prayer and carols. Another sing for our Choir members and a rousing sing of “O’ Little Town Of Bethlehem” and “Silent Night” from all the school. This was our special time to come together as a school family and reflect. The atmosphere was calm and gentle, and with a blessing from Reverend Gary, we were all reminded of the crib and light that Jesus brought into the world.
Thursday 22nd December
A very special gathering for some members of the Year 6 Choir. All will be revealed soon as we share who we are singing for and where. Watch this space!
A very big thank you to all who have been involved with our musical activities. The children have done a great job and so have you.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
