Conservation Area and School Grounds work party
19th November 2013
On Saturday 16th November parents and children attended the Autumn Term event aimed at tidying the Conservation Area and other parts of the school. The plan was to prepare and dig the base for two new, raised ponds together with various other tasks including: harvesting the willow shoots for a new hedge, digging over the vegetable garden, clearing leaves from the playground and tidying up the pond and surrounding area.
On a chilly, damp morning a good number of parents and children made a distinct impression on the job list. As can be seen from the accompanying photographs the conservation area has been largely cleared. The children also installed the hedgehog shelter made by Lottie Maurice (Y6).
As always, refreshments were provided including some fiery ginger biscuits made by the Gilchrist family. Mr Seeley would like to thank everyone for their time and effort. Special mention to Mr Morrison who not only supplied a mower and strimmer but has also planned the raised ponds we are hoping to install later this term.
The work parties are very relaxed and sociable occasions demonstrating that children do not need technology to be occupied and happy. I really would encourage other families to try it next time as it effectively provides built in entertainment and baby-sitting with getting outdoors!
Thank you everybody.
Mr Seeley
