Cross-Country Report

The Leckhampton Primary School Cross-Country team attended the last of four cross country races at St Edwards School, on Thursday 10th March. The children all raced really well, despite the hilly course.

In the girls’ race there was a field of 140+ runners. Special mention goes to Grace Buxton who finished in 51st place, Ruby Buxton who finished in 47th place and Betsy Gaze who finished in 17th place.

In the boys` race there were several top fifty places from a field of 166 boys. Charlie Beardsmore finished 46th, Thomas Abbott 33rd, Noah Kontou-Goymer 16th, Jack Johnson 15th, Freddie Janta-Lipinski 12th , with Sam Cotton finishing a very impressive 6th.

In the overall competition, the Leckhampton boys finished second equal with Charlton Kings Junior School.

Both Jack Johnson and Sam Cotton have now been invited to take part in the County Cross Country Championships on Saturday 19th March.

Well done to all competitors and a big thank you to all the parents who have acted as chauffeur for these events.
