Leckhampton Girls enjoy Cup successes!
11th March 2016This term the Girls football team have entered two football tournaments and enjoyed some great success! At the Warden Hill tournament, the girls qualified for a final play off by drawing with Warden Hill 0-0 and beating Tirlebrook 2-0. The final was a very tense affair and despite some good opportunities for both teams to score, finished 0-0 so the cup was shared!
At the annual Girls tournament, over 20 schools entered and Leckhampton enjoyed another great cup run. The team qualified for the semi-finals by beating Shurdington 4-0, Warden Hill 3-0 and St. John’s 2-0. The girls then travelled to Prestbury St. Mary’s for the final play-offs where, after a long wait, they played a tense semi-final against Bishops Cleeve. In cold, wet conditions the girls tried hard but lost 2-0. However, the team rallied for the 3rd / 4th Play-off beating Berkhampstead 4-0.
A huge well done to all the girls involved and to all of the 31 girls who have enjoyed Year 5/6 club football this term.
