Maths Day
24th June 2015The school was buzzing with excitement from the moment the children stepped into school. The costumes the children wore were amazing. Thank you to all parents and children for making the effort. The impact was spectacular.
Our aims for the day:
- To raise the profile of mathematics and for the children to have fun with maths
- To develop the children’s awareness of links between maths and other subject areas
- To develop thinking and reasoning skills
The day started off with a maths themed assembly which took the children on a brief journey about the history of maths. We then had our first ever Leckhampton Play Your Cards Right. Although it was a competitive game between Mr Cook and Mr Carbin, we all had fun! Mr Carbin was the winner!
A range of activities took place throughout the day-potion making, athletic field events, making and then using clinometers, art based activities, learning card games, maths trails, matching the right tail to the animal, sink the boat activity, sea creature printing and measuring up for a suit of armour.
All the staff worked hard to ensure the day was full of fun and the activities all ran smoothly.
The children are already asking when the next Maths Day will be! Everyday?!
