R E Day – Preparing for Christmas

Preparing for Christmas!

On Wednesday 5th December, Key Stage Two had a great treat! The children were really lucky to be able to experience a session with Joy Howell from Barnabus. Barnabus delivers specialist teaching for R.E. Joy lead sessions throughout the day giving fantastic presentations about the Christmas story. Everybody enjoyed the session. It was an amazing experience that we would love to do again!

We interviewed some of the children in Key Stage Two. This is what they thought…

Year 3

Edie Bickerdike and Erica Rosser:

‘We learnt a brilliant song about angels. It was really fun because we moved around a lot and didn’t just stay in one place. Joy told us all about the Christmas story and we all got really involved.’

Year 4

Edgar Gaze and Florence Ballinger:

‘We opened gifts that represented parts of the Christmas story, which was really interesting. The Wise Men’s journey was the best part because we were learning but also having fun! The singing and dancing was great and Joy played the guitar amazingly!’

Year 5

Max Amiry and Olivia Bently

‘We learnt about Jesus and we were told the story of the nativity. We visited different sections of the hall and sang songs with actions at each point. We really liked the Wise Men’s journey poem because we were moving about.’

Year 6

Oscar Mercati and Maya Horwood

‘Each station was really fascinating and we were learning all the time whilst having lots of fun. It was good because we weren’t just sitting down. We were all moving about and getting really involved. We all had a great time! We want to say a big THANK YOU to Joy for giving us such a treat!’
