Singing to Royalty!
10th January 2017HRH The Prince of Wales visited the local Sue Ryder Hospice in the holidays and our Year Six Choir were honoured to have been asked to sing at this event. For a while, all the details were very secret and the children themselves didn’t know who they were to sing to until the week before.
On the 22nd December, a small but enthusiastic section of the Year Six Choir (who had volunteered) sang to Prince Charles as he was due to leave the hospice. It was a cold day but the children were beautifully presented in their uniform and eager to share their harmonies with all who were lucky enough to attend. Prince Charles stood admiringly whilst listening to them sing “So Many Centuries” and “Rejoice”. At the end, he came over to thank Mrs Bennett and the children, then he had a quick chat with some of the spectators and with one final wave, he got into his car and was ushered to his next appointment.
As is always the case, the members of staff and parents who were present left with a warm glow and new Christmas memories to cherish. We’re so proud of you all, thank you.
Happy New Year everyone.
