Sporting Latest!!
29th March 2012The football season has finished and our teams have done very well. The A team qualified for the final stages of the league competition for the first time in many years and fell at the final hurdle when a victory against St. James would have meant we would have reached the final itself. It wasn’t to be. They also qualified for the final stages of the Albert Dix tournament without qualifying for the final.
The B team have also had a very good season, being unbeaten in all their friendly matches. They also played in the B team Festival and won two games but also lost one.
The girls played in the Girl’s football festival and had a fantastic afternoon, winning their group without conceding a goal and beating Prestbury St Mary in the semi final. We then played St. Edwards in the final and despite being the better team we were thwarted by an excellent display from their goalkeeper and lost the game 2 -0.
All the teams acquitted themselves very well and were a credit to the school. I was very proud of them and they can be rightfully proud of their efforts.
As I write this the Tag Rugby team are playing in a huge tournament at Newlands Sports Ground and we wish them the best of luck.
Thanks to all the parents who help with transporting children and washing kit. It is much appreciated.
