Thank you from Mr Mackenzie

To all the children, parents, staff and governors of Leckhampton School,

For anyone who doesn't know, the Y6 sewing club under the watchful eye of Mrs. Blake, made me some golf club head covers as part of my retirement present. Each cover depicts a member of staff and they are fantastic! The children did not get a close look at them so I promised to send a picture of them being used at the golf club.

Thank you for all the cards and presents I have received on my retirement. The parents in my class clubbed together and bought me a complimentary round of golf, a new glass mug and a £25 voucher to spend at the Brown Jug. What does that say about me? The money collected by all the parents and staff will be used towards the buying of a new IPad.

I would like to thank everyone for the kind words expressed about me over the last few days. I am not a very emotional person and don't handle compliments very well; in fact, I am better at handling insults! Therefore, although I have found it quite difficult, I understand that the sentiments behind those words and actions have been heartfelt. The standing ovation at the assembly on Thursday will live long in my memory. I have to admit there was a tear in my eye and trying to stop my voice quavering was hard.

Once again, I hope to see you all next year when I offer my services as a supply teacher. In the meantime, have a good summer break and enjoy the weather.

Mr. Mackenzie
